About Kate
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
Before I became a therapist, I was working on a graduate degree in a completely different field. While I enjoyed much of what I was doing, I felt a constant pull towards a career where I could more actively support others. With a little push from my own therapist, I chose to make a career change. Since then, I have never regretted that decision.
As a therapist, I am dedicated to providing evidence-based treatment in a warm and honest environment. My approach to therapy is rooted in attachment theory, existentialism, and developmental psychology. I primarily use Mentalization-Based Therapy, Ego State Therapy, CBT, and DBT interventions in my practice. I aim to connect deeply with my clients and provide a growth-fostering dynamic.
When I am not working, I like to spend time with my husband and my Great Dane-Doberman mix, Nugget. I enjoy making stained glass, knitting, listening to podcasts, and spending time outdoors.
Therapy with Me
I believe that effective therapy starts by taking a complete history, identifying an accurate diagnosis, and determining a treatment modality that works best for you and your needs.
I take the time to teach you the science behind your diagnoses, providing a framework to make sense of your symptoms without stigma.
Clients who work with me get the benefit of having a therapy nerd as their therapist. I am always growing my clinical skillset and reading the expert research.
